NFL TE Legend Shannon Sharpe Answers If He Can Beat Caitlin Clark 1-on-1

Shannon Sharpe is one of the greatest tight ends to ever play in the NFL. But at 56 years old, he’s already years removed from his athletic prime. So, when asked how he thinks he would perform in a theoretical one-on-one basketball game against Caitlin Clark, the football icon got hilariously honest.

During a conversation with Chad Johnson in their “Nightcap” show, the former NFL wide receiver asked the Pro Football Hall of Famer if he thinks he can score in a one-on-one game against Clark today. In a funny twist, Sharpe didn’t hesitate to admit that he can’t do it.

“My knees, y’all have to roll me around in wheelchair,” Sharpe started, sending Johnson into laughter. “Man, I ain’t ran or did anything. Hell no!

“When I squat, I have to come home and ice my knees. And you talking about running bound up and down on that hard-ass court? Hell nah, I can’t beat Caitlin Clark. I can barely beat Roy Clark, and he been dead 40 years.”

Shannon Sharpe added that he would probably be done after five minutes once his back tightens up.

“I haven’t dribbled a basketball in like 30 years. I haven’t run since 2009. I need a knee replacement probably in the next three years,” Sharpe further stated.

Caitlin Clark is one of the best players in the WNBA today, making it to the All-Star Game in her first year en route to winning Rookie of the Year. The Indiana Fever star averaged 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and a league-best 8.4 assists per game.

Considering how fast and agile Clark is, it’s understandable why Sharpe doesn’t see himself beating Clark or even scoring against her in a game of one-on-one basketball.
