Erin Andrews reveals message to Travis Kelce immediately after Super Bowl – ‘I’m so sorry’

Erin Andrews has revealed the words of comfort she offered to Travis Kelce after his Kansas City Chiefs were comprehensively beaten by the Philadelphia Eagles at Super Bowl LIX

Erin Andrews has revealed how she consoled her friend Travis Kelce with a touching message after his heartbreaking Super Bowl defeat.

The Kansas City Chiefs were on the receiving end of a 40-22 demolition by the Philadelphia Eagles at Super Bowl LIX earlier this month, dashing their hopes of a historic three-peat.

Veteran tight end Kelce had a particularly poor performance, recording zero receptions in the first half for the first time in his NFL postseason career. The 35-year-old star, who has not yet decided whether he will hang up his cleats, was visibly distraught by the result.

FOX Sports broadcaster Andrews, 46, has now explained how she sought to comfort Kelce with a hug and a loving message. “I’m disappointed both teams didn’t win,” she began by telling Charissa Thompson on their Calm Down podcast.

Andrews went on to recall the moment she encountered Kelce postgame, just as he was heading towards the suite where his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, was. Andrews said: “The shot they have of him coming from the locker room, now you know he was going up to the suite where Taylor was, I didn’t.

“I was just getting off the field and he was just walking out and I was kind of walking like, ‘[expletive] it.’ I just turned around and I walked up to him because I don’t want to bug him, but like no. That’s our friend and this really sucks. I gave him a hug.”

She then revealed her heartfelt message to Kelce: “I said, ‘I’m so sorry. I love you. I’m so sorry.'”

Travis Kelce was dejected after losing the Super BowlAndrews also vented her anger at fans inside the stadium who jeered Kelce’s pop star girlfriend, Swift, when she appeared on the Jumbotron during the game. She said: “I feel bad for the most famous amazing woman who [expletive] gets booed at the Super Bowl. Get out of here.”

Andrews’ comments follow a wave of social media backlash over what some NFL fans deemed to be an uncomfortable interview with Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts. Her critics claimed she had sounded disappointed that the Chiefs didn’t win the game, as she took a more reserved approach with Hurts.

Kelce, meanwhile, briefly spoke to reporters in the locker room, avoiding any questions about his future before heading to Swift’s suite. “There’s a lot that goes into it,” he admitted following the bitter defeat. “You don’t lose like that without everything going bad. We haven’t played that bad all year.”
