In the book Courtiers: Intrigue, Ambition, and the Power Players Behind the House of Windsor, author Valentine Low said that the British royal family tried to find ways for Harry and Meghan to change their minds.

Many discussions were conducted, offering many different scenarios for both parties to be happy. The royal family accepted unprecedented concessions such as “allowing the Sussexes to have one month in each year free to work independently” or “spend most of their time in private, only occasionally participating in some important activities”…

However, every time the British Royal Family expressed goodwill, it was rejected by Harry and Meghan. According to Mr. Low, the couple wants more than what the family can accept.

The British royal family requires that once the Sussexes are senior members of the family, they must abide by the usual rules of royal conduct. That means the couple can’t act or make decisions that benefit them financially.

“Some people suspect Meghan’s ultimate goal is to make money. The only way she could do that was to give up royal life and return to the United States,” the author wrote.

Not only that, Harry and Meghan are said to want to have the freedom to participate in American politics. This is utopian for the royal family, which has a long tradition of not caring about politics.

“There is no way for the two sides to reach an agreement on that issue. The Queen made it clear that if they are not willing to comply with the restrictions that apply to working members of the royal family, they are not allowed to carry out official duties,” the royal expert said.

Harry and Meghan have never confirmed the above information. However, after arriving in the US, the couple repeatedly expressed their political views.

During the race for the US presidency in 2020, Harry and Meghan made a video calling on people to vote.

At the time, Harry said: “I can’t vote in the election in America. But many of you may not know I can’t vote in the UK for the rest of my life. As we approach November, it is important that we reject hate speech, misinformation and negativity online.”

Although they did not name their favorite candidate, many viewers pointed out that they clearly support Joe Biden more than Donald Trump. The Sussexes were later accused of breaching the terms of the “Megxit” agreement.

In response, Trump declared that he was “not a fan” of the duchess. Republicans and other opponents have also called on the royal family to strip the Sussexes of their titles. For them, it is inappropriate for the couple to interfere in the US election.
