Taylor Swift Makes History As Kansas City Chiefs, Travis Kelce Abruptly Decides To Retire – Relationships At Risk

TAYLOR SWIFT watched on from the stands as boyfriend Travis Kelce fell short of being part of a record-breaking Kansas City Chiefs team in the Super Bowl last Sunday.

Kelce’s Chiefs fell to a 40-22 defeat at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans, seeing their chance to become the first franchise in NFL history to win three consecutive Super Bowls slip through their fingers.Travis Kelce #87 of the Kansas City Chiefs on the field.

But despite Kelce and the Chiefs failing to get the historic win, the superstar tight end’s girlfriend made history herself just five days later.

Swift, 35, became the first female artist in history to have 13 number one albums in the UK Official Charts.

The release of her special edition vinyl of ‘Lover: Live From Paris”, tipped her into top spot in the female category.

The 14-time Grammy Award winner is now tied with Elvis for the most UK chart-topping albums.

In fact, she only trails the Beatles and Robbie Williams – with both artists achieving 15 number one albums in the UK.

Kelce did achieve one impressive record himself during the Super Bowl, however.

The 35-year-old now holds the record for the most total catches in the Super Bowl of all time.

Kelce’s four catches in New Orleans took him to 35 Super Bowl receptions, eclipsing Jerry Rice’s previous record of 33.

It’s unlikely he will have the record snatched away from him any time soon either, with no active players holding even half as many catches as he does.

Although it appears Kelce may not be looking to extend the record himself, with the three-time Super Bowl champion considering retirement from the NFL.

Speaking to brother Jason Kelce on their New Heights podcast, he explained he plans to delay the decision until he is sure about his future.

He said: “I know everybody wants to know whether I’m playing next year and, right now, I’m just kicking everything down the road.

“I’m kicking every can I can down the road. I’m not making any crazy decisions.

“I’ve been fortunate over the past five, six years I’ve played more football than anybody.

“The fact that we keep going to these AFC Championships and these Super Bowls, that means I’m playing an extra three games more than everybody else in the entire league. That’s a lot of wear and tear on your body.”

He went on to explain that he wants to make sure he is in the right physical and mental shape to help his team if he does choose to continue with the Chiefs.

“I think I owe it to my team-mates that if I do come back, it’s going to be a whole-hearted decision. Not half-assing it,” he added.

“I’m fully here for them and I think I could play. It’s just whether or not I’m motivated or it’s the best decision for me as a man, as a human and as a person to take on all of that responsibility.”

According to The Athletic, the Chiefs want a decision on Kelce’s future by March 14.

As per Spotrac, Kelce is owed an $11.5 million roster bonus on that date and a further $1m if he attends training camp.

If he retires before the deadline, the Chiefs will only be faced with $2.5m in dead cap. If he does so after March 14, that rises to $19.8m.
