At sea, everything seemed calm. The sky was reflected on the calm waves, and the wind gently caressed
the surface. However, behind this apparent idyll, an invisible tension lurked.
My husband’s brother, Alex, insisted on taking me “to see a special place,” a place he described as beautiful and secluded. I agreed out of curiosity, unaware of the real reason for this trip.
As soon as we got away from the shore, his tone changed. His gaze, initially neutral, became hard. He spoke of David, my missing husband, with a strange bitterness.
“He wasn’t hard enough,” he muttered, as if settling an old score.
Alex had always been interested in David’s commercial empire, my husband.
Behind the façade of a caring brother, lurked a man willing to do anything to take my husband’s property—things he had long coveted.
He straightened up, his face lit with cold determination.
It all happened so fast. A kick, a laugh, the cold water that enveloped me.
“Swim if you can,” he shouted before disappearing, the boat’s silhouette disappearing on the horizon.
He thought he’d said the last word. But he didn’t know one thing: I’d long since realized this sea voyage wasn’t just a stroll.

The next day, he couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw me. He was sh0cked.
The next morning, he opened the safe and discovered all the documents were gone. In fact, I was already waiting with the fishermen at the lawyer’s office.
He didn’t know that my husband’s former captain, Mark, and his crew were nearby, watching us. They saved me.
While Alex was playing the widower, heading to the office to make important decisions, he received a call from my lawyer.
When he arrived, thinking everything had gone according to plan, he found me there, calm, wrapped in a blanket, sipping tea.
“Thank you for coming, Alex,” my lawyer said. “Mr. Mark, who is here, is giving an official statement about the incident. We would like to hear your version of events.”
Alex’s gaze darkened. He realized that his plan had backfired.
Here, in this room, he was no longer in control. The pieces of the puzzle were beginning to fit together, and the truth was beginning to emerge. He had underestimated my resolve and the vigilance of those watching me. Everything was being decided in that moment.
My lawyer continued, “We’ve gathered the evidence. Your little scam will not go unpunished, Alex. Did you think that leaving me in the ocean would get rid of me? You haven’t seen that the sea hides many secrets.”
Sh0ck was visible on his face. Alex knew his days of freedom were numbered.
