Offset Makes Boldly Confess After Wave and Kulture Celebrate Brother Kody’s Birthday While Cardi B Absent for the First Time

Offset enjoyed some family time with his kids, as he celebrated his second son entering double digits.

The Migos rapper, 33, shared photos to Instagram on Sunday, March 9, celebrating the 10th birthday of his son Kody, who he shares with ex Oriel Jamie. In the post, he shared snaps of all of his children enjoying the festivities, including a video of daughter Kulture, 6, doing a split by the swimming pool after she cheered her sister Kalea’s dance moves in a different video.

Wave, 3, was also front and center in the photos, with an image of him lounging on a pool chair on his phone and another of him wearing Hulk gloves near a pool table. In a video, the birthday boy even holds his younger brother in his arms right before he blows out the candles on his big day.

In a 2019 cover story for Haute Living, the “Swing My Way” rapper opened up about how much he’s learned about being a parent since he welcomed his first child when he was 17.

“The journey of fatherhood was kind of tough for me at first,” Offset told the outlet. “I was trying to find myself. I didn’t have much direction on what it meant to be a father.”

“I definitely made some mistakes, but I have no regrets,” he continued, adding that things were especially difficult when his children were younger and he had to spend time away from them while performing across the country.

“It’s challenging when you have a career like this and you’re constantly on the road. It makes it tough to see your kids, especially when they’re young,” Offset explained. “Now that I’m older, though, I’m learning my way.”

The famed rapper is a father to six children. He shares three children with fellow rapper Cardi B: their newborn daughter, son Wave Set Cephus and Kulture Kiari Cephus with fellow rapper Cardi B. He also is a father to sons Kody Cephus, 10, and Jordan Cephus, 15, and daughter Kalea Marie Cephus, 9, from previous relationships.

When he spoke with PEOPLE in honor of his new collaboration with Doritos in September 2022, the “Ric Flair Drip” rapper opened up about balancing his career with being a father.

“Being a father’s important to me personally,” Offset said. “For instance, there’s a big party on Saturday, right? In Los Angeles. And my son Kody’s first football game is on Sunday. There’s no way I’m missing either event, so I’m going to have to make it work. It’s priority to me.”

The rapper also shared that he doesn’t take spending time with his kids lightly — and wants to make sure they have a sense of “structure.”

“I don’t play when it comes to that because I know they’re growing up. It’s cool to be the dad that’s an artist and all that, but when you get older and you start thinking about things, all my kids are [going to be] like, ‘Dang, my daddy balanced all of that and he was able to take care of me, teach me things, help me walk, help me say my first words [and was] still was on tour,’ ” he said.

“That’s my biggest thing, I don’t want my kids to have everything in the world and then not have structure coming up because I was never around to give them the structure,” he added.

Cardi B, on the other hand, never showed up for the event as divorce from Offset reached final stage.

The “WAP” rapper, 32, filed for divorce from her rapper husband for a second time back in July last years after six years of marriage, and a source tells PEOPLE that things remain icy between the pair.

“Cardi tries very hard for things to be amicable with Offset. She’s forgiven him for so much in the past because she wants the best for their kids,” the insider says. “She’s furious with Offset again. Their relationship has always been very up and down. Cardi always moves on though.”
