Aling Teresita, 65 years old, lives with her youngest son Hector and daughter-in-law Lorena in a three-story house in Manila. Lorena is from the province, married Hector three years ago. He’s a good talker but arrogant and likes to brag.

Last week, Aling Teresita invited the couple to return to their home province of Pangasinan to meet their relatives. Before they left, he excitedly gave ₱100,000 (Fifty Thousand Pesos) to the couple:

– Take it, give it to grandparents, aunts and uncles, and cousins in the province. To be honest, people don’t think that the Spartans are going to be able to make the playoffs.

Lorraine smiled sweetly:

“I know, Mom! When I got home, I had to keep my family’s name.

Sister Teresa was relieved. Throughout the week in the province, Lorena posted a series of photos, such as: “Visited wife’s province and everyone loves it,” and “All the care from my mother-in-law.” Which Teresita was also pleased, and thought: “The slippery tongue of this little girl, the relatives must have praised her.”

But just two days after the couple left, something strange happened.

The next day, Aling Teresita was sweeping the yard when she saw three strange women who looked hard walking to the gate.

– Aunt Teresita, we are asking for money to buy a market as Aunt Lorena said when we were in the province!

Sister Teresita was confused:

– What is the money to buy the market? When did I promise to give it to you?

Another responded:

– By the way, when Grandpa Felix and I were at home, your son-in-law said: “My mother-in-law has a lot of money, no matter who visits Manila, I will send ₱50,000 to buy a market so they can see Manila.”

– We were even told to come here right away, maybe her mother-in-law would leave!

Which Teresita was stunned as if struck by lightning, the broom fell into her hand. Before he could speak, about ten more people in his village had passed by, some asking for money to buy a market, and some asking for “gifts as Lorena had promised.”

Which Teresita’s hands and feet trembled, and she immediately called out to her son:

“Hector!” Come on now, what the hell is going on with your wife?!?

Hector ran home, and when he arrived he found his mother furious. When he called his wife, she just answered the phone casually:

– Of course, Mom, I was just joking to make people look at us, but I didn’t think they would. At the same time, it is important to have a clear understanding of what is going on in the country, because in the country, they tend to be judgmental.

Which Teresita sat down and slammed the table:

– What can we gain from that vain pride, huh, son? You’re building your own bank and you’re about to make me a liar!

The next night, Hector and Lorena had to contribute ₱200,000 (the higher amount was meant to “recover” from the embarrassment) to “support the family’s name.” They bought gifts and sent them to the province to apologize to each other.

But the chaos wasn’t over — the next day, someone called from the province, and reported that a live video of Lorena was circulating online:

“My mother-in-law’s wealth, when we returned to the province, she gave the whole family ₱100,000 to spend. I love my mother as much as I love her.”

In the comments under the video, everyone praised: “Loving daughter-in-law, rich family.”

Which Teresita, on the other hand, turned off the phone, and laughed bitterly as she held her face:

– The wealth I didn’t see, all I saw was the embarrassment of the whole town and province…
