Jaime Hull, the mom of Indiana Fever star Lexie Hull, has issued a warm welcome to DeWanna Bonner after she signed a one-year deal to move to Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

The six-time WNBA All-Star arrives in Indianapolis boasting a well-established reputation as one of the league’s most experienced stars. She will play her 16th professional season with the Fever, having enjoyed five successful campaigns with the Connecticut Sun – averaging 15.9 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.2 steals in that time.

Having won the WNBA championship on two occasions before, the 37-year-old will be called upon to help nurture emerging stars such as Rookie of the Year Caitlin Clark next term. Bonner has joined fellow league stalwarts Natasha Howard and Sydney Colson in joining Stephanie White’s new-look outfit ahead of the new season.

The veteran’s joy was plain to see after the $200k deal was confirmed, as she took to X to say: “Yall I don’t get on here often bc this app is insanely too much sometimes!! I just want to say thank you thank you for all the love I’ve received so far!! Def not unnoticed!! The love is real!! THANK YOU!! DB.”

Following on from this, the mom of new teammate Hull also was on hand to issue a kind welcoming message to the Fever’s newest recruit as she made a quip about her daughter, saying: “Welcome to @IndianaFever! So happy the only time @lexiehulll has to guard you now is in practice!!”

In a longer statement following the announcement of her impending arrival in Indianapolis, Bonner also expressed her gratitude towards Fever front office chiefs as the deal was finalized. She said: “I’m extremely thankful to be joining an organization that’s on the rise and committed to growing the sport of women’s basketball.

“I’m looking forward to coming in, sharing my leadership and knowledge, and doing my part to help get this team get back to its championship pedigree. But, more importantly, I’m excited to get to know everyone at the organization – the front office, teammates, behind-the-scenes employees and, of course, the fans! I can’t wait to see everyone at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in May.

Meanwhile, Amber Cox, Fever COO and General Manager spoke excitedly as she looked forward to a bona fide WNBA legend joining the Indiana franchise. With Bonner teaming up again with former Connecticut HC White, Cox said: “DeWanna is one of the greatest players in the history of our league.”

She also spoke in glowing terms about the player’s key attributes, continuing: “She is a multi-dimensional scorer, can play every position on the floor and shines brightest in the biggest moments.

“DB’s longevity and success in the WNBA has everything to do with the work she puts in, as well as her competitive drive. She is an incredible teammate and leader, and we are so excited to welcome her to the Fever.”
