Aling Amor, 58 years old, is a hard-working food vendor in the market. Her body was 50 years old, but she felt like she was getting older because of the uterine disease. He was going to have to have surgery soon, but he didn’t have enough money. Of his children, Carlo was the oldest and most stable in life. He was the one who wanted to get closer.

As he walked to Carlos’s house, he prayed repeatedly.

Carlo was silent for a moment. Liza looked at each other, as if they knew something that Amor didn’t know.

She walked into the room, leaving Amor in the living room with Liza who was visibly crying.

Lisa: “Mom, I’m sorry we couldn’t help you. But I hope you can trust me now.”

When Carlo returned, he brought with him a small wooden box. It has a ribbon and has a slight weight.

Carlo: “Mom, we can’t leave you. This is the first step. But… Would you like to hide it in the first place? Don’t open it here.”

Love: “Milk is not going to be? Carlo, I’m with naman hinihingi-”

Carlo: “Mom, please go home.”

A little surprised, Amor accepted the box. He said goodbye and walked home. As he walked, he wondered if it was a watch, or Liza’s jewelry, or a document.

When he got home, he sat down on the bed and slowly opened the box.

As soon as he lifted the cover, he was stunned.

Thick bundles of money—not just one, not just two, but almost full inside. There are still envelopes at the bottom and a small note.

Her hand trembled as she opened the paper.

“Mom, you’ve been taking care of us for a long time without you. Now we take care of you. Don’t think about the cost. We have spoken to a doctor. Tomorrow we will be able to schedule your operation. — Carlo and Liza”

She burst into tears, holding the money and the letter.

The next day, he stopped working. Carlo called and picked him up with Liza and her grandson, Mico. By the time they arrived at the hospital, the papers were ready.

The nurse called her “Mom” and asked her to sign a consent form. Liza took care of him, and Carlo took care of the money.

Before she entered the examination room, she hugged her son tightly—like an embrace of gratitude, love, and peace.

For the first time, he was not afraid. Because he knew he wasn’t alone anymore.

And that little box, became a symbol of the return of the love he had given his whole life.
