What did Prince Harry reveal when he met King Charles again after 19 months apart?

After 19 months of near-absence, Prince Harry had his first meeting with King Charles while on a series of visits and charity work.

The move has sparked speculation that the long-running rift between Prince Harry and his father could soon be over. The meeting had been expected after the Duke of Sussex said he wanted to reconcile with his family in May.

According to CNN, Harry was seen driving through the gates of Clarence House in a black Range Rover at around 5:20 p.m. (UK time) yesterday and left just under an hour later. According to royal sources, King Charles is still undergoing cancer treatment at Balmoral Estate (Scotland) and returned to the British capital yesterday afternoon to perform some royal duties.

The last time Charles and Harry spent time together was in February 2024, when the duke rushed back to Britain after the king was unexpectedly diagnosed with cancer  . Harry, who is fifth in line to the throne, has not seen his father since.

While it is too early to say whether a full reconciliation has taken place, there have been signs in recent months of a possible rapprochement between the two. In July, senior aides from both sides were seen meeting in London – a move interpreted as an initial reopening of communication channels.

In an interview with  Oprah Winfrey  in 2021, Harry and his wife  Meghan Markle  accused a member of the royal family of raising concerns about the skin colour of their firstborn, Prince Archie. 

Meanwhile, in Harry’s controversial memoir  Spare  , he revealed many shocking truths, including that his brother  Prince William  assaulted him during an argument about Meghan.

In May, Harry opened up about his current family situation, saying: “Some family members will never forgive me for writing a book… They will never forgive me for many things. But I am very much committed to reconciliation with  my family  . There is no point in fighting any more.”

However, there is no sign yet that the good relationship between Harry and William has been restored. Both brothers have been busy with a series of events in the past few days. 

According to the British news agency PA Media, after meeting his father, the Duke of Sussex appeared relaxed as he entered another event and answered a reporter’s question about his father: “Yes, he is well, thank you.”
