JAYNE Torvill has confirmed Dancing On Ice will return to telly screens – and revealed the ITV show will have a new and “refreshed” look when it relaunches.
The Olympian confessed that Steven Gerrard is top of her wish list to take part as she urges the retired footballer to sign up.
In an exclusive interview with The Sun’s Bizarre column she said: “I love that it’s coming back, it’s great news – I’m really looking forward to it.
“The show will definitely be refreshed but the basics will be the same, we will still be teaching celebrities how to skate.
“It was a different sort of platform being in the studio – we like to be creative and come up with new things. There’s a new bar to set when the show returns.
“My son is a massive Steven Gerrard fan; he wants him to do Dancing On Ice as he’s retired now.
“He’s also keen on David Beckham taking part but I told him that’s unlikely.”
The Sun revealed this month the show was in talks to return following a three-year break.
The popular programme saw Olympic champs Jayne and Christopher Dean teach celebs to skate competitively.
It was hosted by Phillip Schofield and Christine Lampard, but was axed after nine series.

Christine, who hosted the show from 2012, said: “It’s such a brilliant show. I think it should come back.”
Jayne, who won a gold medal at the 1984 Winter Olympics, admitted she’s over the moon to still be performing despite the fact she’s approaching sixty.
Speaking at the Good Morning Britain’s Health Star Awards she said: “I have been really lucky that I can still go out and perform at the age I am.
“When I won the Olympics I didn’t think I’d still be performing thirty years later.
“Chris and I are always ready to go back on the ice and perform.
“The last two years we have been doing pantomime on rollerblades which gave us a platform to perform together but it was more difficult on rollers as they’re heavy and they slip away more than if you’re on the ice.”
The celebrity skating show pulled in 13million viewers at its peak and the channel’s new boss Kevin Lygo believes it was canned too soon.
A source previously told The Sun: “Kevin always thought ITV axing Dancing On Ice was a mistake.”
Actor Ray Quinn won the last show in 2014 – with stars such as Beth Tweddle, Suzanne Shaw and Kyran Bracken as previous champs.
