Dancing On Ice: ‘They’re ripping up the ice in their 60s!’ Torvill and Dean wow fans 36 years on from iconic Bolero routine with ‘fantastic’ performance
They impressed the world with their incredible Bolero performance at the Sarajevo 1984 Winter Olympics where they won gold.
And Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean proved they still had it as they took to the ice for their first routine of the current Dancing On Ice series.
The skating sensations, aged 62 and 61, amazed fans with a series of lifts, spins and perfectly synchronised moves during Sunday night’s show.

Dancing to song Just The Two Of Us, Torvill and Dean showed off their talent for being perfectly in time and exuded confidence as they span around the rink.
Torvill looked incredible in a red leotard which plunged at the front with sparkling mesh which she paired with a red and pink skirt.
Dean looked equally stylish in burgundy trousers and a waistcoat and slicked his blonde locks back for the routine.
After the duo performed dozens of fans took to Twitter to say they were astounded at how talented the pair still were many years on from their Olympics win.

One person wrote: ‘I’ve been a HUGE @torvillanddean fan since the early 1980s. To see them still skating so amazingly beautifully after all these years is such a privilege and joy. Definitely still got it.’
While others were impressed that the skaters could still move in their 60s, writing: ‘Oh come on! Torvill and Dean are amazing. They’re 62 and 61. For crying out loud. Timeless!’
And another agreed, writing: ‘There’s #TorvillandDean ripping up the ice both over 60 and here’s me can’t even roll out of bed without every bone cracking!’

And another fan said ‘Torvill and Dean make skating look so effortless (which of course it isn’t) – they’re amazing’ while another said they were ‘fantastic’ on the rink.
Last week the pair teased they would ‘go back to their roots’ for in the performance and admitted they don’t get to skate together as much as they would like, reports the Radio Times.

The pair originally retired from the rink in 1998 but got their skates back on for Dancing On Ice in 2006 – where they are now part of the judging panel.
Sunday night’s episode was full of impressive routines with soap star Lisa George, 49, performing a Coronation Street themed dance.
She even invited co-stars Jane Danson and Anthony Cotton onto the ice to help her pull off the performance which was set in the Rovers Return pub.
Contestant Caprice Bourret also failed to address the reason behind Hamish Gaman being axed as her partner as she narrowly avoided elimination on Sunday.

The supermodel, 48, who is now skating with Oscar Peter, didn’t mention during her rehearsal video tape why she is no longer skating with pro Hamish.
Caprice and Oscar were up against Radzi Chinyanganya and his partner Jessica Hatfield in this weeks skate off, but they managed to be saved by all four judges.
Earlier in the episode Caprice referenced her partner swap and simply said: ‘I missed last week because I’m no longer skating with Hamish.’
Caprice went on to say that her first live performance was ‘overwhelming’ and she was ‘nervous and excited’ for Sunday’s routine with her new partner.
