SHE’S INVITED TO A CLASS REUNION TO BE HUMILIATED, SO SHE SHOWS UP IN A MAID’S UNIFORM — BUT IS STUNNED
SHE’S INVITED TO A CLASS REUNION TO BE EMBARRASSED, SO SHE SHOWS UP IN A MAID’S UNIFORM — BUT EVERYONE IS STUNNED WHEN A HELICOPTER COMES DOWN TO PICK UP THE “QUEEN”
Maya was known in high school as the “laundry scholar’s daughter.” As a result, he was constantly bullied by Beatrice, the Queen of the Campus and the Mayor’s daughter.
That was 10 years ago. Maya received an invitation to the Grand Alumni Homecoming held at the Beatrice Garden Resort.
The invitation included a note from Beatrice herself:
“Maya, sana makapunta ka. Don’t worry, walang entrance fee para sa’yo. We need someone to remind us kung gaano kami ka-swerte sa buhay. Wear your best… uniform.”
Maya knew it was a trap. Beatrice just wanted to make fun of him. He wanted to show everyone that to this day, he still sees himself as a “servant.”
Instead of being angry, Maya smiled. He accepted the challenge.
On the night of the Reunion, the Beatrice Garden Resort shines. Maya’s former classmates were dressed in gowns and tuxedos. They boast of cars and businesses.
Maya has arrived.
He believed what Beatrice had said. She was dressed in a maid’s uniform—a white shirt, a black skirt, and even an apron. She didn’t have any makeup. He was wearing only flat shoes.
When he entered the door, everyone was staring.
“Omg, is that Maya?”
“Seriously, the gossip is real. He is still a servant to this day.”
“How dare you go out like that!”
Beatrice greeted him, holding a glass of champagne. It’s a red gown that shines.
“Maya!” sigaw ni Beatrice, sabay beso-beso (pero hindi dumikit ang pisngi). “I’m so glad you came! At… wow. You really wore your… working clothes. Galing ka ba sa duty? Sayang naman, wala kaming dalang labahin.”
Beatrice’s friends laughed.
“It’s all right, Beatrice,” Maya replied calmly. “Tell me to wear your best uniform. It’s the most comfortable thing for me.”
“Well,” cried Beatrice. “If you’re going to be here and you’re going to have to go back to work, can you get us some drinks?” We didn’t have enough waiters. We’ll give you a tip.”
Beatrice handed a tray to Maya.
Maya picked up the tray. “Okay, if that’s what you want.”
Within two hours, they were able to take care of Maya. He was instructed to take a tissue, clean a plate, and wipe away the discarded liquor. Her classmates took pictures of her and posted her on social media with the caption: “Reunion with our batchmate turned maid. So sad.”
Beatrice was delighted. “Look at him. It was a bit of a cliché, but look at it now. There is no advancement. It’s a testament to the fact that it’s really in the blood.”
As the program began, Beatrice took the stage to give a speech.
“Batch 2014!” said Beatrice. “Success is for people of class and wealth. Not for the people… Backwards.” He looked over at Maya in the corner.
In the middle of Beatrice’s speech, they suddenly heard a loud roar from heaven.
BUGSHHH… BUGSHHH…
The wind was blowing. The tables were swept away. Balloons and decorations were damaged. Beatrice’s hair was ruined.
“What’s that?!” the crowd shouted.
A black and gold Luxury Helicopter descends in the middle of the resort’s expansive garden. It bears the stamp of a Royal Crest.
People panicked. “Is there an emergency?!” Who is that?!”
The helicopter landed. The door opened.
Four men dressed in black suits and with earpieces came down. They look like Secret Service or Elite Bodyguards.
They walked quickly into the crowd. Beatrice nodded at them.
“Excuse me! Private party ito! Sino kayo?!” sigaw ni Beatrice.
The bodyguards ignored him. They swept him away like the wind.
“Come on,” the security guard ordered.
The guards walked to the corner… On to Maya.
Everyone was stunned.
The four guards knelt in front of the “helper.”
“Your Highness,” said the Head of Security. “Your flight to Geneva is ready. “Your wife, the Prince, is waiting for you.”
Your Highness? Principle?
Maya slowly took off her apron.
Under his uniform, he was wearing a suit. She took off her white shirt and black skirt.
They wore a gold silk dress made by a famous designer in Paris. It glows under the light. Maya grabbed the strand of her hair and combed it back—long, messy, shiny.
The bodyguard pulled out a box. It was opened. A diamond necklace and tiara. It was worn by Maya.
Maya turned to face Beatrice, who was now gasping and her hair messed up by the helicopter wind.
“B-Beatrice,” Maya smiled. “I’m sorry, I have to go.” Is this the kind of thing you promised me? Donate to charity.”
“Uh-huh,” Beatrice said with a sigh. “Who are you really?”
Maya leaned over to Beatrice’s ear.
“I’m Princess Maya, wife of the Crown Prince of Monaco. Is this the kind of resort that you’re looking for? My company bought it this morning. So technically… We are employees.”
Everyone was stunned. Beatrice’s resort turned out to be owned by Maya!
“Next time, Beatrice,” Maya said as she walked away. “Don’t judge by your clothes. Being a true queen, you don’t need a crown to be recognized. It just takes a good heart—something you don’t have.”
Maya jumped into the helicopter.
He left the meeting as he flew up. Beatrice and her classmates were left downstairs—full of dirt, messy hair, and ashamed of themselves.
The woman they had been enslaved was the owner of the land on which they were standing, and now she was flying back to her palace.
