Sir Rod Stewart had sobbing fans flocking to support him as he issued a fresh health update after being forced to cancel one of his Vegas shows earlier this week. The Maggie May hitmaker has now cancelled a second gig today (June 5) at Caesars Palace – leaving fans worried for him.
Rod wrote on Instagram: “I’m awfully sorry to have to cancel my show June 5th at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. My doctor ordered a bit more rest while I recover from the flu. Thanks for your love and understanding – Rod,” accompanied by a heart emoji.
Fans flocked to comment on the post, with Lizzie Cundy writing: “Wishing you well.” Another fan echoed: “Take care Sir Rod and have a great recovery! I’m sending you positive vibes.” A third fan said: “Get well soon, Rod. I hope to see you in Latin America. It was my father’s dream.”
“Please feel better soon, we love you!” somebody else posted. And another fan penned: “Praying for you Rod. Everything will be fine. Take care and god bless you.”
Rod was forced to reschedule Monday’s gig (June 2), setting a new date for June 10th. He told fans at the time: “I am sorry to inform you that I’m not feeling well and my show tonight at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace is being rescheduled to June 10. Your tickets will be valid for the new date.”
He has not yet confirmed if or when Thursday’s show will be rescheduled. But Sir Rod was placed on vocal rest during his epic One Last Time tour, wearing a sign around his neck after his gig at Milan’s Unipol Forum that read: “Sorry. Cannot talk. Having vocal rest.”
He confirmed the mammoth tour would be “the end of large-scale world tours” for him, but he “has no desire to retire”. Rod said: “I love what I do, and I do what I love. I’m fit, have a full head of hair and can run 100 metres in 18 seconds at the jolly old age of 79.
