Elon Musk has emerged as a betting favorite to take over as the new owner of a struggling AFC franchise.

After winning the 2024 U.S. presidential election, Donald Trump named Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy the co-leaders of the Department of Government Efficiency. As if the Tesla, Inc., X/Twitter and SpaceX head man isn’t busy enough as is.

Of course, a prominent and influential business figure like Musk can never be too tired to add more expenditures to his lifestyle. He has an estimated net worth of over $300 billion, after all.

According to the latest betting odds at Bovada, Elon Musk now has the second-best odds to replace Woody Johnson as the owner of the New York Jets. Johnson has owned the struggling AFC East squad since 2000. According to Forbes’ valuations for 2024, the team is worth $6.9-billion.

Johnson has become the target of criticism amid a disastrous 2024 Jets season that was full of hope. But the first healthy season with Aaron Rodgers has been a disaster, with the Jets near the NFL basement at 3-8.

CLPod 74: The Cs teams that never were, late summer moves & more
Two months out from the start of the regular season, and nearly half as long from camp, more than a few of us are starting to get antsy without basketball to watch. With that in mind, we decided it was time to dust off the microphones and record an episode of the CLPod to talk about the (very few) moves of note going down since the last time we recorded two weeks ago.And with the team in a liminal space between seasons, neither last season’s Celtics nor the next, Mark Allison and Justin Quinn got to thinking about all the different ways this timeline of Boston’s journey from one contending squad to the next could have gone differently. So, we put our heads together, and tried to imagine how the Cs might look if Danny Ainge had kept the last title team together longer, or if Brad Stevens had said no, or if Boston hadn’t signed Al Horford, or…well, you’ll have to listen to hear them all.So, if you’re as ready as we are for some real, live NBA games that count, you’re going to have to wait a while. But if you want some news and analysis on not just this timeline, but several others we don’t happen to be on, buckle up and listen to this week’s CLPod – we have at least another month of doldrums ahead of us, and a lot to be thankful for, if our thought experiments are as realistic as we think they are.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/celtics-lab-nba-basketball-podcast/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy Learn more about your ad choices. Can Boston beat the Miami Heat banged up?
Any NBA postseason series is about matchups and adjustments, and in the case of the Boston Celtics’ 2022 Eastern Conference semifinals series with the No. 1 seeded Miami Heat, they will likely prove critical elements to the team that finds a way to advance to the finals. The Celtics own the best defense in the league in the 2021-22 regular season, but the Heat are not far behind at No. 4 in that department, and both teams have an adaptable style of play and solid coaching staff to guide their respective teams on both ends. We also knew coming into the series that health was going to be a factor with each team’s lead point guard dealing with injuries sustained earlier in the postseason — Marcus Smart with a sprained foot he hurt in Game 7 against the Brooklyn Nets in the East semis, and Kyle Lowry with lingering hamstring issues. We did not, however, know that veteran big man Al Horford was going to end up back in the NBA’s health and safety protocols, or that center Robert Williams III is reportedly likely and able to play significant minutes against Miami. On this episode of the CLNS Media “Celtics Lab” podcast, your hosts Cameron Tabatabaie, Alex Goldberg, and Justin Quinn do their best to predict the East finals matchup between Boston and Miami, even as they learn about Boston’s injury woes mid-recording. Buckle up, this is going to be a rough ride for the Celtics. Keeping up with the Horfords: Talking the offseason, basketball abroad and more with Anna Horford
While the dog days of summer are upon us, it might seem as if the wider NBA world is in something of a slumber. But the league has been hard at work promoting its brand abroad, while players like Boston Celtics star forwards Al Horford and Danilo Gallinari have been getting ready to represent their respective national teams. Players have also been finding an offseason groove that suits what they need to focus on, whether that means family time or time abroad playing with FIBA. To talk about what’s been going on with her family since the Finals, NBA investment in Latin American basketball, and other goings-on in her orbit, we brought on friend of the pod Anna Horford to share her perspective. We talk about her brother Jon’s recent run for office, Dominican basketball (and other) culture, and some potential projects coming down the pike with the Horford family. We also touch on the trickle of news coming out as always with your regular hosts Cameron Tabatabaie, Justin Quinn, and Alex Goldberg, so be sure to check this episode out. Though Johnson hasn’t expressed any interest in potentially selling the Jets, it only takes one can’t-miss offer. And with over a quarter of a trillion dollars in his bank account, Elon Musk could easily give Johnson a lucrative offer that couldn’t be turned down.

Elon Musk As The Jets Owner Would Be Can’t-Miss Content

Musk is one of the most polarizing figures in the world, especially ever since he acquired Twitter and re-branded it to “X.” Now imagine if this man became the owner of a big-market NFL team like the Jets, who have been a non-stop circus since their last playoff appearance in 2020.

It’s safe to say that the vast majority of Jets fans would welcome a change in the ownership chair. Would they want someone like Musk in charge? It depends which Jets fan you ask, but the headlines would really write themselves.
