Billionaire Elon Musk warns that AI will surpass human intelligence in the next one to two years.

In the Joe Rogan Experience podcast broadcast last weekend, billionaire Elon Musk expressed an optimistic view when he commented: “There is only a 20% chance that humanity will be destroyed by artificial intelligence (AI), while the probability of a good outcome is about 80%.”

This is not the first time Elon Musk has predicted the risk of AI destroying humanity. Previously, he estimated the probability of this ranging from 10% to 20%. In the interview, billionaire Elon Musk also stated that AI will surpass human intelligence in the next one to two years and can reach the level of “smarter than all humans combined” by 2029 or 2030.

Last year, in a live interview on social network X with CEO of Norges Bank Nicolai Tangen, billionaire Elon Musk said that AI could surpass human intelligence as early as late 2025.

Not only the world’s richest man, many famous figures in the field of artificial intelligence also share the concern that AI will destroy humanity. However, they do not have the same optimistic attitude as Mr. Musk.

Deep learning expert Geoffrey Hinton says he believes there is a 10% chance that AI will lead to human extinction in the next 30 years. Meanwhile, others, like AI safety researcher Roman Yampolskiy, say the “probability of doom” is 99.999999%.

Despite concerns that AI will destroy humanity, in the interview, Mr. Musk revealed that the reason for entering this field is to create a non-profit open source AI, in opposition to Google. Billionaire Musk is one of 11 co-founders of OpenAI.

Billionaire Elon Musk is heavily involved in this field. He co-founded OpenAI with the goal of creating open-source, non-profit AI in opposition to Google. In his lawsuit against OpenAI, he claims that the company has betrayed its mission by switching to a for-profit model and partnering with Microsoft.

Additionally, the billionaire explained that he was not satisfied with the results from OpenAI’s models, so he had to create Grok with the goal of “finding maximum truth”.
