A New Beginning for William and Kate

Prince William and Princess Kate plan to move into a new home with their three children. According to the source, this is the permanent home of the Welsh family, even if they ascend the throne.

On August 16, a spokesman for Kensington Palace confirmed that the Welsh family is expected to move by the end of the year.

According to Page Six, William and Kate’s current home, Adelaide Cottage, is located just east of Windsor Castle, Berkshire, England. They have lived here since 2022 to make it convenient for Prince George (12 years old), Princess Charlotte (10 years old) and Prince Louis (7 years old) to attend school at the nearby Lambrook School.

In the near future, they are said to be moving to an eight-bedroom property worth $21 million, called Forest Lodge, in Windsor Great Park (south of the town of Windsor, on the border of Berkshire and Surrey).

“Windsor has become their home. However, in the last few years, while living at Adelaide Cottage, they have had to go through really difficult times. The move gives them the opportunity to start over and move on to a new chapter, leaving behind some unhappy memories,” the source shared.

Indeed, after William and Kate and their children had just moved to Adelaide Cottage, Queen Elizabeth II died in September 2022. In 2024, another difficult period hit the royal family when both King Charles and Princess Kate revealed that they had cancer.

According to the source, unlike Adelaide Cottage, William and Kate consider moving to Forest Lodge as finding their “permanent home”.

The royal couple is also said to have used their own money to cover the entire cost of renovating the new house. The insider further revealed that no employees stayed here.

On August 19, the BBC reported that the Welsh family plans to move into the spacious Forest Lodge house before Christmas. They want to stick with their new place for the long term, even after William inherits the throne.

The villa is designed in a Georgian style, dating back to the 1770s. It has 8 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms and a tennis court.

In July, European and American media reported that the Welsh couple was looking for a house with a larger area, more rooms, a larger and more private garden.

A royal source told the Daily Mail that in order to meet the criteria for privacy, two civilian families were forced to leave their homes.

“They were asked to move out. I guess they were arranged somewhere else, but were forced to move,” the source said.

In 2023, The Sun reported that King Charles decided to reclaim Frogmore Cottage, the wedding home of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle gifted by Queen Elizabeth II, from the youngest son and his wife.

King Charles reportedly wanted to dedicate the house to his scandalous brother, Prince Andrew. The aim of the head of the British royal family was to ask his younger brother to move out of the 30-bedroom mansion at Windsor, Royal Lodge, to make room for the Welsh family because Adelaide Cottage was too small for their status.

However, so far, Prince Andrew has refused to return the house to his brother.

Georgian is an architectural and interior style that appeared in England and its colonies in the 18th and early 19th centuries. Originating from the reign of four successive King George of the United Kingdom, between 1714 and 1830, the style not only reflects the aesthetic tastes of an era but is also a symbol of the rising prosperity and power of the British Empire. Georgian architecture is characterized by symmetry, graceful proportions, neat lines and the use of exposed tiles.
