A farmer from a small village knew this well. For 28 years, he had tended an old tree that grew next to his plot. It was a strange tree: its trunk showed a  strange swelling, almost as if something were trapped inside .

 

Over the years, the bump grew larger and larger. Some neighbors said it was a sign of illness, others claimed it held a mystery. Finally, one day, the farmer made a difficult decision:  cut down the tree .

The moment of truth

With each blow of the axe, the dry sound of the trunk resonated in the air. The curious villagers approached, intrigued. When it finally fell, the farmer began to cut away the swollen part… and what appeared inside left everyone speechless.

In the heart of the trunk, protected by decades of wood and sap, was a strange, perfectly preserved object. Some described it as  an ancient metal reliquary , others as a  sealed wooden box  that the tree had “devoured” when it was still young.

The village elders remembered rumors that, many years ago, a traveler had lost something valuable in that same field. Could that be the mysterious object? No one knew for sure.
