New Chapter for Boyfriend Connor McCaffery as Caitlin Clark Has Another Reason to Attend Butler Games
Caitlin Clark voiced her excitement when her boyfriend Connor McCaffery was appointed as the assistant coach at Butler men’s basketball program. In fact, the Indiana Fever star was in attendance to cheer for the Bulldogs as he made his coaching debut on November 4. However, McCaffery won’t be the only reason Clark has to be at Butler games soon.
While Clark caught everyone’s attention with her presence during the Bulldogs vs Missouri State Bears clash, two more people, close to McCaffrey were also present. Clark was flanked by her boyfriend’s mother and younger brother, Jack. According to a new update, Jack will soon be making the jump from the stands to the court.
An Instagram post by Butler Men’s Basketball on Wednesday, confirmed Connor’s younger brother, Jack McCaffery, has signed with Butler University. The 6’8″ forward is rated as a four-star prospect and is the No. 1 player in Iowa according to 247Sports. Moreover, he’s part of a three-man recruiting class that includes two forwards, Jack and Jackson Keith, and a guard, Azavier “Stink” Robinson.
This recruiting class is ranked 12th nationally, marking a historic first for Butler, whose last high was a 44th-ranked class in 2020. The Iowa City West’s McCaffery brings immense talent to Butler’s roster. During his junior season, he averaged 16.2 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game.
And much like Clark’s three-pointers, Jack’s highlight is his shooting accuracy. He shoots nearly 50% from the field and an impressive 80% from the free-throw line. But that’s not all.
McCaffery put up impressive performances during the 2024 summer playing for Madden Brothers 17U on the UAA Rise circuit. He averaged 18.1 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per contest. His 36-point performance against Atlanta All-Stars included nine 3-pointers. After his signing, coach Thad Matta sounded excited about his acquisition. “Jack knows how to play the game, just as you would expect from a coach’s son. He’s a big wing and multi-dimensional in how he can pass, shoot, and make great decisions with the ball in his hands,” he said in a press release.
Jack had announced his commitment to the Bulldogs in July and now his arrival has officially been announced. Meanwhile, Jack not only joins his elder brother Connor but also follows in the footsteps of Patrick, who is a forward. Both brothers have transferred from Iowa. Meanwhile, Clark has been going strong in her support for Connor.
Clark has appeared regularly to cheer for her boyfriend
“It’ll be fun to go to those games,” Clark had said when Conor was appointed the assistant coach and she’s kept her word. We saw her in the stands for the first time, during Butler’s season opener against the Missouri State.
She attended another game on November 8th, where cameras captured her happily cheering on the sidelines for her boyfriend and his team. However, she wasn’t alone. Jack and his mother, Margaret sat right by her, cheering on the McCaffrey boys. The third game once again saw her presence. But this time, it was Tyrese Haliburton and his girlfriend joining her. The four of them have grown to be good friends, involving a group chat.
Knowing the dedication McCaffery has put into his career, which even Clark acknowledges, it’s no surprise she’s there at every game. But the support seems to be getting to Patrick as well, considering holding his own as the leading scorer across three games. But will Jack be able to live up to the expectations? Only time will tell!
