VIDEO: Dallas Cowboys Legend Michael Irvin Rips Taylor Swift & Caitlin Clark For Trying To Make Kansas City Chiefs The New “America’s Team”
Dallas Cowboys legend and Pro Football Hall of Famer Michael Irvin believes Taylor Swift and Caitlin Clark are trying to help the Kansas City Chiefs steal the “America’s Team” moniker from his old squad.
Irvin spent his entire NFL career with the Cowboys, which spanned from 1988 to 1999. He led them to three Super Bowl championships over a four-year span (1992, 1993 and 1995) and was named to five Pro Bowls as well as the 1990s All-Decade Team.
Swift has been in a relationship with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce for more than a year, bringing plenty more popularity and global exposure to the team. Clark, the new face of the WNBA, watched the Chiefs-Houston Texans Divisional Round Game with Swift at Arrowhead Stadium last week.
During his interview on the “It Is What It Is” podcast, Michael Irvin stated that both Taylor Swift and Caitlin Clark are trying to help the back-to-back Super Bowl champions become the next “America’s Team”, a moniker held by the team since 1978.
“We’re going to talk about Caitlin Clark and Taylor Swift at the Kansas City Chiefs game. Those are two good old American girls. They’re trying to make those Chiefs to all of them. They’re trying to steal America’s title.”
Obviously, the world’s biggest music star has played a significant role in the growth of the Chiefs. But it also helps that they’ve emerged as the new golden franchise of professional North American sports teamsMichael Irvin, like countless Cowboys fans, understandably can’t be happy with many giving the Chiefs that “America’s Team” moniker. But when you have the league’s best player (Patrick Mahomes) and three Super Bowl titles in five years, you’re going to attract a ton of bandwagon fans as well.
Cowboys Haven’t Been The Same Since Michael Irvin Retired
A serious neck injury forced Irvin to retire from football early after the 1999 season. And the Cowboys as a whole haven’t been the same proud franchise since.
They haven’t played in the NFC Championship Game since 1995, the longest drought in football. Dallas has only won four playoff games in the 21st century, with three of those coming between the 2014-2022 seasons.
