My husband told me to sell these bananas this morning and then take maternity leave, our son is only a month away.

“My husband told me to sell these bananas this morning and take maternity leave, there is only one month left until our son is born… He promised me that he would arrive early, that he would take me to the prenatal consultation, and that our whole family would prepare to receive the little angel.

And yet… My God, how sad this is! He was at work when he received a call from a neighbor:

— ‘Brother, come back now, your wife… Your wife was hit by a truck at the market.’

He let go of his hands and ran like crazy down the street. With every step he ran, he felt like his heart was about to burst, and in his mind he would only repeat his words: ‘Just sell this trip and come back to take care of your mother and your children.’

On arriving… In front of him was a bloody scene in the street, bananas were strewn about, and the bicycle he used to transport the goods was broken in two. And she… the woman he loved the most… He lay motionless in the middle of a circle of worried people.

He screamed like a madman, knelt down and hugged her, trembling with despair:

— ‘Honey, open your eyes. There is only one month left and our son is about to be born. Why did you dare to leave me alone like this?’

They took her out of there, but he stayed, sobbing like a child. I was gone, leaving a drop of our blood in my womb, with no time for the child to call “parents.”

It’s really sad, woman… For many years, the couple had saved every dollar, sacrificing everything waiting for the day their child would be born in a tiny house. But cruel fate robbed me, took away my mother’s warmth.

How will you know how to live now? How will she grow up alone without her parents? How can we deny the sadness that our children have felt since before they were born?

She was in intense pain, just looking at the sky and shouting:

— ‘Oh my God, why is this so unfair? How dare you steal your beloved wife, when she is only a month away from being a mother?’

Husband, rest in peace… He promised that, as difficult as it may be, he will raise his children to grow up. ‘This pain, I can’t let it disappear from my whole life…’
