‘I don’t think we’ve ever had a falling out’: Dancing On Ice’s Torvill and Dean open up about their relationship… as they prepare to bow out ‘on a high’
They’ve enjoyed 30 years in the spotlight as one of the most popular ice skating duos ever.
But Jayne Torvill, 56, and Christopher Dean, 55, insists they have never had a proper argument with each other before, despite their countless years on the ice together following their Olympic gold for Great Britain in Sarajevo, Bosnia, in 1984.
Christopher told The Sun newspaper: ‘I don’t think we’ve ever, ever had a falling out. Not a real one.’

While the Dancing On Ice mentors are both in separate relationships – Christopher with Karen Barber, a judge on the ITV show, and Jayne with her husband of 24 years, Phil Christensen – the pair have previously admitted to being romantically involved once before when they were both single.
It is a subject the duo have not talked about too often but Christopher admits the pair were ‘really close’ during their brief romantic spell together.
He added to The Sun: ‘We were very involved. We were really close — we spent so many hours together training week in, week out.’

But Torvill and Dean are set to go their separate ways soon as with the final season of Dancing On Ice on the horizon they have vowed to ‘take a break from each other’.
The pair also plan to never skate the Bolero again after they perform it one last time in Sarajevo next week, the scene of their historic Winter Olympics skate 30 years ago.
Despite agreeing to take a break from one another, Christopher, who will move to America, where he lives, on a permanent basis, insists working away from Jayne will feel ‘like a death’.

While TV bosses are said to be keen to tie them up to another Dancing On Ice deal, Christopher insists the pair want to bow out of the show ‘on a high’.
What’s more, the duo admit they would’ve probably already taken a break from skating before now but they got offered the chance to do Dancing On Ice and haven’t looked back since.
The final of the skating show will take place on March 9, 2014.
